CAPA is once again making plans to bring a little hope and joy to children and families this winter. Can you help?

CAPA knows that families are able to do their best when they feel supported. What started many years ago as stockings for children, has evolved into a robust fun-filled basket collection drive that gives families a way to positively connect and enjoy some stress-free time together during the long winter break. This winter, help us reach our goal of collecting 200 baskets filled with items that support “family time” and show the children and families we serve in our prevention and counseling programs that we care.

Frequently Asked Questions

CAPACares helps children, adults, and families feel safe, supported, and strong. We provide counseling, home visiting support, and community education programs. Our goal is to help people heal, grow, and build healthy relationships.

We offer three main types of services:
  • Counseling for children, adults, and families
  • Home visiting through Healthy Families Jackson County™, which supports parents and caregivers
  • Community education, including parenting classes, social-emotional learning, and mandated reporter training
If you’re not sure which service is right for you, we can help you figure that out.

If you are worried about a child’s safety, it’s important to speak up. Making a report can help connect a child and their family to support and resources they may urgently need. You do not need proof to make a report—just a concern.

Reports can be made anonymously, and the goal is always to protect children and help families.

You can call the child abuse hotline for your state or the national hotline:

  • National Child Abuse Hotline: 1-800-422-4453

Healthy Families Jackson County™ is a home visiting program that supports parents and caregivers with young children up to age three. Family Support Specialists offer guidance, encouragement, and tools to help families thrive.

We offer parenting skills classes, prevention education, social-emotional learning programs, and mandated reporter trainings.

Because of the sensitive nature of our work, on-site volunteer opportunities are limited. However, there are still meaningful ways to support CAPACares.
