CAPA hosted its first annual Blue Ribbon Burgers & Brews on Friday, April 4, 2014. The event brought together area businesses, restaurants, breweries and CAPA supporters for a night of networking and philanthropy all to benefit CAPA’s programs and child abuse prevention efforts.

Guests were treated to delicious burger samples from Diamond Bowl, Famous Dave’s, Ophelia’s and Unk’s Burgers as they competed for the title of Best Burger 2014, with Ophelia’s reigning supreme. After munching on their fill of burgers, guests were invited to wash it all down with tastings from a variety of breweries including Abita, Deschutes, Kona, New Belgium, O’Fallon and Shock Top. The evening’s festivities also included a silent auction and live entertainment.

The community helped raise over $24,000 for CAPA’s therapeutic, family support and educational programs that aid children and families throughout Jackson County, MO.

We want to share special thanks to the 2014 Blue Ribbon Burgers & Brews Sponsors for their generous support: Cockerell & McIntosh Pediatrics, Speaks Family Legacy Chapels, Commerce Bank, Chuck & Karen Costa, Hawthorn Bank, Dennis & Terry Clinefelter, Corporate Copy Print, Mark & Patti Simcosky, Ann Mesle, QuikTrip Corporation and
